At the heart of our restaurant is a deep respect for the past. Near the entrance to the restaurant, the largest stained-glass piece stands as a tribute to all the German clubs that once thrived in our community but no longer have regular membership. Though times have changed, their legacy continues as we celebrate those clubs that still remain strong today.
The Hive is more than just a dining establishment—it is a living testament to the Plattduetsche Volksfest Verein (PVV), our parent organization. Whether we are preserving traditions from a specific German region or embracing the culture as a whole, our mission remains the same: to celebrate and uphold German heritage.
Throughout the restaurant, stained glass panels share glimpses into our history. Above the bar, each panel displays the logo or crest of a different German member club—many of which were founded based on a specific German town, trade, or hobby. These clubs each have unique traditions and stories, captured in artifacts and photographs proudly displayed in our space.

Our booths also tell a story. The stained-glass panels reflect beloved aspects of German culture—dancing, music, beer, traditional foods like wurst, schnitzel, and pretzels, hunting, and festivals. Other panels highlight the different sections of our establishment—The Hive, Biergarten, Beer Hall, Pavilion, and the Plattduetsche Home Society.
If you’ve dined in Germany, you may be familiar with the term “Stammtisch.” These specially reserved tables for regular guests are where lifelong friendships are formed over hearty meals and cold beers. At Plattduetsche Park, we honor this tradition by incorporating Stammtisch seating into our restaurant, inviting all guests to experience the warmth and coziness that Germans call “gemütlich”—a feeling of happiness, comfort, and belonging. Each Stammtisch booth was crafted in Europe, featuring intricate carvings of hops as a tribute to Germany’s famed beer culture. You’ll also find carvings of beehives and bees, symbolizing the PVV’s motto: “Eendracht makt Macht” – “In Unity is Strength.”
Beer is more than a beverage—it’s a tradition. And for our Beer Club members, it’s a personal experience.
Our beer lockers offer a special space for members to store their own beer steins, used only by them when they visit. This practice has deep roots in German beer culture, where often only the bar owner and the member hold the keys to these prized lockers.
Beer holds a special place in German culture, and we honor it by serving beers crafted according to the Reinheitsgebot—the German Beer Purity Law of 1516. This law states that beer can only be made from barley, hops, and water, ensuring its pure, timeless quality. On tap, you’ll find a carefully curated selection of authentic German beers alongside a few local craft favorites. Not sure what to order? Our longtime patrons have recommendations for you!
The bar at Plattduetsche Park carries with it 84 years of history. Parts of the original wood bar remain intact, preserving the memories of countless celebrations and toasts. During renovations, we uncovered sections of original brickwork. Instead of covering them up, we chose to keep them exposed. These are just a few of the ways we honor our past while continuing to cater to our customers today. Take a moment to really look around you,the photographs and club artifacts celebrating our long history are authentic, not just decorations.
